I imagine they will do what they've done with Minecraft, and still port shit that makes money super easy so "case by case" basis is super obvious releases of stuff. They have to make back their billions

Well yes and no. One of the theories that were going around during Mojang and Minecraft purchase was that MS had some money "trapped" in EU because they would need to pay huge taxes transferring it in US so they just went and purchased something.

I'd be happy with Konami's PC releases coming out on Steam. Like Metal Gear Solid 1 / 2, Silent Hill 2 / 3 / 4. Why can't they just throw them on Steam or GOG?
I really don't want to hunt down a copy on eBay.

Just finished Tell Me Why. It was alright. Had so many important messages.
Wasn't much fun to "play," though. It's OK. People know what they are getting into before launching games like that.
Still haven't played Life is Strange 2. Twin Mirror is coming out soon too.

I know you are all dying to know what I'm going to play next. Don't wanna keep you waiting any longer. It is going to be Spiritfarer.

Just realized, with Doom under their belt Microsoft have a good single player FPS now.

Looking forward to properly playing the MGS series. I picked up Ground Zeroes + The Phantom Pain for cheap a couple of years back, only played GZ of the two and decided I need to play the older titles to understand WTF is going on. Played MGS1 and 2 at a friend's house as a kid; I had a Dreamcast so couldn't play them, but I do remember playing the demo of the old PC port back in the day. I do now own a PS copy of MGS1 along with a Bleemcast disc to play it on a Dreamcast but have never got round to doing so, the Bleemcast disc is still shrinkwrapped.

Give me ZOE1 as well actually.

And no I don't care that everyone else finds it redundant in the face of ZOE2, I still want it.

I'll be amazed if we see 4 getting ported any time soon, but hell yeah, that and the psp games too please.
It just seems asanine on Konami's part to have never even remastered that at this point, and negligent on Sony's part for never having a PS3 BC solution

Really hope this MGS stuff is true. Don't play with our emotions.

I like curating a tight ship of games on Steam I care enough about to want to keep installed. If MGS and Silent Hill 2 were on Steam I could near enough round off my top 20 games of all time on Steam. Leave a spot for Bloodborne and I'd settle it there.

I can only replay these old games (and by old, im even as harsh as to include 360/ps3 stuff) on the Switch these days tbh, unless its a full blown remake, the smaller screen really hides a lot of the... dateness. Then again a big part is because most of my gaming is done at work these days, as at home im usually either too tired to sit in front of a monitor/tv or just busy with other shit.

also, this is pretty crazy

I assume Metal Gear Solid re-release(s) would be TGS announcements this week then probably.

Those ports come from an era of more old-school PC ports, i.e. barebones and all the tech advances (resolution/control options etc) since have only made them more dated. Nah, they definitely need to put some work into these. Honestly for MGS I'm pretty sure they'd just use one of the more modern re-releases as a base.

It doesn't need to be full remakes, but they definitely need like HD remaster type work. Something like the Zone of the Enders 2 HD release would be perfect.

would be neat to check out those Metal Gear games everyone's always talking about.

Speaking of Konami, would be nice to get an Igavania collection, given my newfound love of Metroidvanias.

I'd be pretty happy if they did that. I just expect Konami to do the bare minimum these days, hopefully I'm wrong.

I would love something on the level of the updated cutscenes they did for the MGS3 pachinko, but the pessimist in me in saying there's no way they'd put that much effort into it.

The potential of Metal Gear makes me wish I wasn't awful at stealth games.
Sorry mate, Halo 1's campaign was meh and what I played of Reach and 2 ranged from paste to genuinely awful.
Like honestly, I happened to play through the original two Doom games for the first time when I tried the MCC and I was enjoying it all the way to the end. I guess I'm just a boomer at heart.

Huh, I don't recognize all those names. Alpha Dog? Roundhouse Studios? Looking them up, I guess they're various studios Zenimax had knocking around.

Chairmanchuck DeejayDoom pretty sure you both are the VN experts. I'm probably gonna finish the last game of the AA trilogy by the end of the this week and the trilogy as a whole has put me into a VN craving. Is there some that you would recommend preferably ones that have comedic bits as well?

Raphaël Colantonio and a bunch of other key staff left Arkane, I don't want a dishonored without them.

Arkane is a shell of it's former self.

Colantonio was working on Prey when Arkane Lyon was working on D2/DoTO and they are both still fantastic. There are still dozens of super talented people at Arkane. It sucks to see Raph leave, but by his own account, he was spending so much time doing business stuff for the now much larger company, he didn't get to do as much on the design end that he wanted, so starting a smaller team allowed him to do that (which I totally understand). But that also means that all the Dishonored games turned out awesome even without his focus, so there's obviously tons of great people at Arkane.

MGS3 better be a port of the 3DS version instead of the PS2 version; the 3DS version controls like Peace Walker and has the crouch walk. Remove the touchscreen stuff, up the framerate the 60fps, and it'll be the best way to play the game. They would be smart to rework MGS2 in a similar fashion since there's no analog buttons on PC.
