Do you have the timestamp for that? Curious about SMT 4 - if it's coming to gamepass I assume it'll come to other consoles too.
Pentiment level game from Tango is absolutely fucking yes in my book. Hopefully EVERY studio is doing shit like that.

Hm. I don't really know who Nick is or how reliable he is. Doesn't sound like Jeff Grubb knows anything about it. They also mix up the games and confuse what they originally released on. Also - not sure how this would work. I guess if SMT 3 came to xbox it would be the hd remaster? Would that mean they're going to remaster 4 as well, assuming this is even true? I think a straight port of a 3DS game to modern consoles would look and play rough.

i'm not sure about nick either but Xbox is clearly doing more stuff with Atlus from the level of marketing they did with P5 and SMT3 and 5 at least would make a ton of sense on game pass

Makes sense. Atlus did a show this year where they showed the most in demand remakes/updates to games and I think SMT 4 was like 5th or 6th on the list. I'd think they'd do the most in demand ones first before doing this game.
I'm definitely hyped for a smaller passion project from Tango. Hopefully every Xbox studio is working on smaller passion projects like Grounded and Pentement.
God I hope so. They need to get in front of their messaging again. I'll take a state of play or a direct over an XO event.

Yeah, I have to imagine this will be more of an xbox state of play style thing where they announce a few smaller games and give release dates to their 1h games. Just a guess on my end though.
I think he also said it might take two years to come to fruition. I mean, maybe, but if so then Sega was just planning to port those games anyway and there'll probably be a switch and ps version as well.

If they are porting it to other platforms, it's not impossible that Microsoft also paid to get a similar treatment.
I don't even see what the point of a port of SMT 4 is. It looks and plays fairly dated now especially compared to SMT 5 and the nocturne hd remaster. Would a straight port of SMT 4 which was a 3DS game even be successful?
we already know tango are working on a smaller game "trying out new genres with a new director taking charge". it was mentioned at tgs 2021. it's not the john johanas directed title.

Almost definitely not, yeah. SMT4 is kind of a mess and a console port would be a bad idea in general. You'd need to completely remake it from scratch and nobody is gonna put that level of effort in for SMT4 of all games.
Yeah, and if it is scheduled for Fall 2023 it would make sense to announce it early next year. When I saw that description I immediately thought "seems smaller."

Not to mention SMT4 has extremely blocky environmental graphics and badly animated 2D sprite combat. Porting that to consoles would be laughable.
I really hope Microsoft has some great mainstream games to announce and show in 2023, especially Starfield. I love my series X + Pc and gamepass is the service I absolutely love and if I had to only pick 1 sub to pay it would be the one, I've played 30+ gamepass games this year I would never have played otherwise.
But its sorta tough to evangelize to friends, I tell everyone all the free games I get and its easy to talk about Forza Horizon 5, Skywalker Saga, Hades (now gone), etc but there isn't much to counter God of War, Spider-Man, The Last of Us, etc. I've really enjoyed stuff like Lake, Echo Generation, Procession to Calvary, Pentiment, etc but those are fairly niche games and not really for "everyone" or what people think about when they think about an immersive, AAA action game.
Microsoft just has a great thing running right now between PC compatibility, GamePass Ultimate, Microsoft Rewards, Cross Play/Cross Save, Smart Delivery, and their hardware ecosystem but its also not super easy to be enthusiastic in talking about it without getting in the weeds, like MS Rewards is fantastic but its hard not to talk about it without degening into "so I gotta use bing every day for 5 mins to pay for Gamepass?" and smart delivery is one of those things that doesn't mean anything until you fight the atrocious backend of the PSN store on your PS5.

Because it would look like absolute shit on consoles. It would need a full remake, and they are not going to bother with a full remake of SMT4.
