A strangely lifeless Baby Yoda is now in The Sims 4

Like this, I do not

The latest patch for The Sims 4 added new music, fixed some bugs, and also added ... Baby Yoda.

Yes, Baby Yoda from The Mandalorian was added to The Sims 4 as a furnishing item. Called “The Child Statue” in-game, it’s simply a statue that you can place and tell your sims to “view.” It doesn’t seem to do anything else other than being a weird decoration in your house.

The Child Statue is priced at 504 simoleons. The description is simply all the stuff we know about Baby Yoda, like that he’s called “The Child” and that he’s from the Disney+ show. Perhaps the most upsetting thing about The Child Statue is that it only has one Environment point, though.

Ah yes, should I put a fountain outside? Or mayhaps a Baby Yoda?

It just ... stands there. It doesn’t seem to move or react to anything. Upon seeking out this item and adding it to my home, I impulsively put it on top of my dresser, which I regretted. I do not want Baby Yoda’s creepy child eyes to watch my Sim when she slept. I have since re-sold the Baby Yoda.

Its addition to the game isn’t surprising, since The Sims 4 is published by Electronic Arts, which also publishes the Star Wars games. What is surprising is how fast Maxis added the item to the game, following all the Baby Yoda hype.
