Lois and Clark are rising, with the news that Erica Durance will join Smallville co-star Tom Welling in the Arrowverse‘s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover.
TVLine has learned that Durance is on board to reprise her role as Lois Lane, guest-starring in multiple episodes of the five-part event. As mentioned with Thursday’s announcement that Tom Welling will play Clark Kent in the crossover, viewers will see where these characters are almost 10 years after Smallville ended.
Though this marks the first on-screen reunion for Welling and Durance since Smallville‘s series finale, the latter previously dipped her toe into the Arrowverse with a run as Supergirl’s dearly departed (…but not) mother, Alura Zor-El.
“Crisis on Infinite Earths” kicks off Sunday, Dec. 8 with an episode of Supergirl, then continues with a Monday episode of Batwoman and that Tuesday’s The Flash. After a month-long holiday break, it concludes with the Jan. 14 episode of Arrow followed by a special installment of Legends of Tomorrow (which premieres at midseason).
Previously announced casting includes Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as Supergirl‘s own Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, while Legends of Tomorrow‘s Brandon Routh will pull double duty as the Kingdom Come version of Superman. (Kate Bosworth… is on The I-Land.)
Preceding her stint as Supergirl‘s Alura, Durance’s post-Smallville credits included five seasons of Saving Hope (on which she starred and served as a producer) plus guest spots on Charlie’s Angels and Harry’s Law (as “Wonder Woman”).

Hell yea!!
Tom and Erica together again, now this crossover is perfect. Thank you DC, thank you CW. I’m so happy right now.
They havent announced that they’re going to be appearing but Lana, Ollie and J’onn’s actors have all said they’re willing to come back too, so whether or not they will is another thing. I kinda want Lionel Luthor to come back too, he was previously on Shazam!
Also if Rosenbaum comes back, not only would he be able to play Lex, but he can also be Wally West :D
Smallville’s Lionel Luther can’t come back. Lex killed him.
The 1st time he did. But Darkseid killed him the second time.
Oran I am with you. I am so happy to hear this. I miss them both and wish smallville would also come back on.
Happy Erica will be in the crossovers as Lois and will get to work with Tom again! Cool there will be two Lois’ and 3 Supermans in the crossovers.
If we can get Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor then I’m going to really have to tune in
Please get Michael Rosenbaum back as Lex Luther!! Maybe even find a way to have Kristin Kreuk back Lana Lang!
Ugh, please, God, no.
But totally agree with Michael.
Maybe just a mention. Too bad what’s happening with Allison Mack and her involvement with all that cult crap but, I would’ve loved to see Chloe Sullivan in the crossovers.
Too bad as I like Chloe. Thanks Mack. Being the only actress to play her kinda has ruined the legacy of Chloe.
So… will Supergirl be involved in this cross-over? Cause you would think Kara would wonder why her mother is involved with her cousin…
Brandon Routh doing double duty as Ray and Superman. Would be interesting if Erica pulled double duty as Alura and Lois. Love to see if the two Loises meet up.
““Crisis on Infinite Earths” kicks off Sunday, Dec. 8 with an episode of Supergirl”
See: Brandon Routh as Superman.
It’s ok if John Wesley Shipp can be E1 Henry Allen, E3 Jay Garrick and E90 Barry Allen, Erica durance’ and Brandon Routh can be 2 characters at the same time. Plus Supergirl will be like « mom? » just like Barry did in the last crossover when JWS appeared as Barry.
I actually think he’s the BA that dies
I’m sure she’ll understand by now. If Tom Welling visits Earth-38 and see’s Eliza Danvers, he’ll probably not be wondering why his mother (Lara-El – Smallville) is Kara’s Earth mother.. and also Kara.
yes as every arrow-verse show main charcter involved then you also have at least two supermans,as we’ll just have to two flashes as john wesley shipp will be back, and elder bruce wayne and my guess is burt ward an elder dick grayson
OH HELL YES
This sounds like it’s going to be an incredibly confusing crossover. Previously they left LoT out because it was too much to juggle…wondering how any of the main characters of any of the shows are going to get any meaningful time with all these guest stars.
From what I read, there will be different Earths which, by the end of the crossover, will merge all of the different numbered Earths so everyone is on the same Earth (I assume Earth-1)
“Legends” is also planning on being part of it [I believe their part of the crossover airs in January] and, if I remember right, it’ll finish with “Arrow”.
It ends with LOT not Arrow
The airing schedule is listed right above. Zero guesswork involved.
Hopefully this Crisis will be like Crisis on Earth X where other than the opening credits, where it stated who was the star and who were the guest stars ,you couldn’t tell which show it was supposed to be. One story featuring all the characters in all the episodes. Barry and Iris’s interrupted wedding ceremony happened on Supergirl and they and Felicity and Oliver were married on Legends of Tomorrow if you go by the opening credits of the various episodes of Crisis on Earth X .
Please read or familiarize yourself with the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. Thank you.
Smallville gave us a look 10 years into the future during the final season where he was Superman. Not just Clark…
I recently rewatched episode and I was shocked to realize the we are now pass that date.
If I wasn’t locked in before… I’m for sure all in now!!
Crisis needed to be it’s own 18 to 22 episode limited series.
nice, now lets get Justin Hartley back as the Green Arrow, I would love to see that interaction with hime and the current Green Arrow.
Sure..and he can bring his brother Randall and sister Kate…call it a family vacation on Earth # whatever. Maybe they can re-animate the corpse of their dad Jack with some of the Luther wizardry.
Is Lynda Carter still set to play Wonder Woman in the crossover?
Always just a rumor.
Most certainly not
What about Lois and clarks dean cain and terri.
Agreed. Erica’s awesome, so glad they are including her. But seems like they’re bringing back every version of Lois and/or Clark, except for the ones from “Lois & Clark.” Kidder and Reeve are iconic, but Hatcher and Cain also set the bar so high for all the Lois and Clark duos to come and it’s unfortunate they’re the incarnation that’s being excluded.
I wonder what earth they live on. Can’t remember them mentioning that on Smallville.
If this Lois and Clark are considered the “first” Lois and Clark and they follow the comics it’ll be Earth 1. I haven’t watched any of these shows in a couple of years so, I can’t remember which Earth is considered Earth 1 but, Silver Age, a.k.a. Pre Crisis, Superman existed on Earth 1.
Earth one in the arrowverse is the earth where Arrow, flash and legends take place
Actually, wouldn’t that make it Earth-2? The Earth with the older Lois and Clark, where Superman was around during WWII? The Justice Society, Infinity, Inc. etc? I guess in the Arrowverse we’d also have to include all the people from Earth-2 on “The Flash” as well.
Come to think of it, the Justice Society did play a role in Smallville as well, so that could be considered more evidence.
Some reports have said she is the only Lois. Does this mean Bitsie isn’t back?
Bitsie is back as Lois also
Can’t stand Bitsie as Lois. She’s just caustic in that part. Erica’s Lois is the best version ever.
While Erica Durance is my favorite Lois, too, I have to disagree about Bitsie Tulloch’s Lois. I think she did a great job of emulating Margot Kidder’s ‘tough broad’ version of Lois from the movies.
I can’t wait, so excited.
I’m on cloud 9!!! My favourite couple of all time!!! I’m speechless!! Yep, Smallville was essentially about Clark’s journey but a key part of that was Lois. So so so happy!!!! During the last few seasons of Smallville, I was going through a rough patch and watching them together gave me hope and the distraction I needed to get through everything!!! I can’t really begin to explain how much this means to me and to quite a few people out there!!
Why did they introduce Erica Durance in season three as Kara’s mom, only to never use her season four? Then reprise her Smallville role? They could have just not recast her mom and be done with it.
I guess they couldn’t find a reason to go to Argo City in season 4. In season 3 it was to find Harenel and it turned out Harenel was being used on Argo City as a power source and it just so happened Kara’s mother survived and came back to Earth to help Kara fight Reign. But once Lena found a way to make Haranel and Reign was gone there was no need to go back to Argo City. In reality Erica probably only had a contract for one season like Odette and Emma did and with the story going in a different direction in season 4 the contracts weren’t renewed.
I don’t think the writers were thinking ahead three years for the crisis. Laura Benanti who originally played Alura was unable to come back to reprise her role, so they had to recast her and thought Erica would be great for that role, since they kind of look similar.
I hope that if they stick to the story as closely as they can, Michael Rosenbaum comes back as Alexander Luthor from Earth-3.
I can’t even believe how ecstatic I am at all of these additions, Best News Ever! I hope a heart attack by the time the episodes actually run. I can’t stop screaming!!
Meant to say, I hope I DON’T have a heart attack by the time the episodes actually run. You can see how excited I am!
Just fainted….
the only ones missing at this point are Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher. c’mon CW. DO IT! xD
Can we get Dina Meyers and Ashley Scott to reunite with Batwoman’s Rachel Skarsten for a Birds of Prey reunion during the Crisis?
I wonder if they could get Justin Hartley back for just a small role as Arrow on one of the Earths? It could be such a hoot seeing him as the Arrow along with Tom and Erica again. I know his pay grade is probably way over what this show could afford, but maybe he would do it just for old time’s sake?
He said he’d do it if they could accommodate his,”This is us,” schedule.
