The slimmer, sleeker Xbox One S is coming on August 2nd. Today Microsoft announced that the $399 2TB launch edition will arrive in "select regions" on that date, though consoles with smaller hard drives (1TB and 500GB) won't be hitting stores just yet. It's still possible to get the redesigned Xbox One in time for launch by preordering from Microsoft directly or the big retailers you'd expect, like Amazon. Microsoft released another teaser video for the S along with today's news. Look closely and you'll notice a quote from The Verge's Vlad Savov.

The Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One and adds support for 4K / HDR video. It also features an IR blaster and comes with a revamped Xbox wireless controller with textured grip and Bluetooth connectivity. (The controller will also launch separately on August 2nd for $59.99.) The August 2nd date is significant in that it coincides with the release of Microsoft's Anniversary Update for Windows 10 and the Xbox console. You'll need to weigh whether it's worth investing in a nicer Xbox now or waiting for the significantly more powerful Project Scorpio coming in fall 2017, however.
